Beach Time & The Perfect Book is Pure Happiness

With the weather warming, from what seemed like the longest winter ever, there is one daydream that keeps popping into my head…me sitting on a white sand beach, listening to waves crashing, drink in hand, & a book in my lap. That is the ideal summer day for me. And since I just happen to live on the beautiful gulf coast, I already have the white sand and waves covered. The only thing left is to find the perfect beach read. And since I go through a good book rather quickly I am going to need more than one book on my summer reading list.
Anyone with a e-reader knows that books can get kind of pricey and the good cheap e-books are hard to find, since most of the cheaper e-books are erotica and horribly written. Well thanks to a great site called Bookbub.com I have been able to build my kindle library to an impressive number for fairly cheap. Bookbub is a site that sends you daily emails with books for your specific device that have been discounted or become free for a limited time. When you build your account on Bookbub, you will be asked what type of device you have and what your favorite genres of books are. The books are free or a discounted price from their original price. I personally have never seen a book in one of my emails that was over 3.99. Since I am such a huge nerd and I love a deal, I get excited every day when I see an email from Bookbub in my account. If you are an active reader and own an e-reader Bookbub is definitely worth checking out.
So thanks to the awesome deals that I have found with Bookbub I have built my summer reading list. Each picture is a link to the Amazon page with the description, rating, and price. If you are like me it’s the cover that catch’s my interest first. If I don’t like the cover, I will literally not read the book, as lame as that sounds.

So here is my summer reading list, in no particular order:

(This book is still for free on Amazon)

(This is the second book in a series call Steampunk Chronicles. Its an amazing series if you love historical fiction.)

If any of these titles end up on your summer reading list, let me know you thoughts. I love a good book discussion! Happy Reading darlings!

Welcome!

Well hello darlings,
My name is Jessie and I am starting this blog because a good friend of mine, writer of Sequin Gowns and Mermaid Crowns, would not leave me alone about starting one. Okay and maybe I am writing it because I love to write, especially about me, because I love me, seriously I’m fabulous. But all kidding aside, I do love to write and for most of my life I have wanted to be a writer, so what better way to start than with a blog. Let me properly introduce myself:

My name is Jessica, but every time someone calls me that I feel like I’m in trouble so I go by Jessie. I am 22 years old and originally from an itty bitty backwoods town in South Carolina, seriously it was itty bitty, my graduating class in 2009 was a whole 124 students. So yes I come from one of those picture perfect country towns where everyone knows everyone and everyone knows everyone’s business. And as much as I love being from a small town, growing up it was not as good as it is now. You could not get away with anything. I once cut school with some girlfriends and before I could even get to the movies the gas station clerk called my daddy. So guess who was waiting for me at the movies… yup my daddy. I now live, thanks to the U.S. Air Force, on the beautiful gulf coast of Florida and I love it here.
Seriously how could you not love the Gulf, look at that water!

But that tiny little county in South Carolina will always be special to me; after all it is where I met my best friends and my husband. Yes if you couldn’t guess by the title of my blog I am married, to a wonderful man who serves this country in the U.S. Air Force. I met my husband Allen when I was 15; right away I knew he was something special. We worked together at a local skating rink and I looked forward to spending every Friday and Saturday night behind the skate counter, dealing with people’s smelly shoes, because I knew it meant I would get to be close to him. Now, before you go and get all sappy thinking Allen and I were the perfect high school sweethearts and then got married, you my lovely are wrong. See Allen had no interest in me; I was an awkward girl who wanted to hug him all the time. Allen and I didn’t get close until after he graduated high school and I started my senior year of high school. Allen and I actually never got a chance to date like a normal couple. It wasn’t until he came back to visit South Carolina after basic and tech school, that we realized that we should be together. So in August of 2012 we started a long distance relationship. If it would have been anyone else in the world I would have gave up, long distance is hard, really hard. However, I knew that I loved him, because over the past six years of our friendship I had been searching for a guy who made me laugh the way Allen did, but I never could. So we had a crazy fast relationship and now we are married and I could not be happier.
Allen and I on our 1st Anniversary

So enough about my marriage and more about me! I am extremely sarcastic, I really can’t help it, it just flows out of my mouth sometimes. However, my momma raised me to a proper southern lady, so I do know when to keep my big mouth shut. If you didn’t already guess, I grew up on a farm and since I am an only child I got the pleasure of doing all of the farm related chores. Not that I mind, looking back I’m glad my daddy made me work, it made me a better person. I have an unhealthy obsession with anything to do with Disney, especially Walt Disney World.  I am a full time college student; I am working on my bachelor’s in Elementary Education and still not sure what grade I want to teach yet.  I am a huge animal lover; I like them a little bit more than some people. It doesn’t matter what kind of animal it is, if it is cute and furry I want to cuddle it.  I love to read, I seriously have an obsession. I love painting, I’m not very good at it, but I enjoy doing it. I also love to cook; I am always on the web looking for things to add to my recipe book.  I try to live life with a positive outlook, even though it can be hard at times; I really do try to keep a smile on my face.

This handsome guy is Fireball, my favorite of all my family's horses

I wanted to start this blog for a number of reasons, but mainly to let other military wives know that they are not alone when it comes to dealing with the stress of having a spouse in the military. I have already faced my first deployment, with another coming soon. I survived, my marriage survived, and most importantly my husband survived. The key is to keep busy! This blog is going to be just as random as my life as an air force wife. I will be writing about everything, book reviews, D.I.Y projects, deployment survival tips, and recipes, anything I can think of really.

I hope that you have enjoyed getting to know me! I hope that you continue to visit my blog for more random posts.

God Bless,

Jess
