Rain, Rain, Go Away!

So first off I want to apologize for not posting sooner! Not a good way to start off my blog, by waiting so long, but life happens. The past few weeks have been crazy and I just haven’t had time to sit down and write. It all started April 16th when my husband and I woke up to water standing in every room of our house! We went to bed that night with it storming and woke up to a flash flood on our street. And the crazy thing is our house was the only one on the street that flooded. After our landlords had the damage looked over, they gave us the option of ending our lease and since we didn’t want to live in the middle of a construction zone for over a month, we ended our lease. That left us with three days to find a new house before they started tearing down the walls. So that raised our stress level to about a 1000. Then came moving day! So exciting…no not at all. We woke up to another rain storm! We checked the weather to make sure there were no flood warnings, which there weren’t, and decided to move small things in our cars until the rain stopped. So after making a few runs to the house, we headed back to our old place to start moving bigger stuff. We found the front yard 2 foot under water! There was water back in the house, so that raised the stress level to about 5000. So we made a few calls to people in Allen’s shop and about three hours later we had everything out of the house. Thank god for those guys who had to carry our furniture above the water and to the U-Haul! You guys are awesome, I owe y'all a cake.

This was our front yard on the day we moved!
There's an article on the first flood here

It turned out that the flooding at the old place was caused by a clogged street drain and the house being between two houses built up on hills. About a week being in our new house, another huge rain storm hit. This one was actually bad enough to cause damage everywhere in the area and surrounding counties. Luckily our new house was spared, but not our cars. Both of our cars got water damage and were ultimately totaled by our insurance company.  So now our stress level was raised to about a million!
On top of all of this the base was having a huge exercise that involved armed forces from all over the nation and world. And of course, my husband was a part of it, so we didn’t have a lot time to figure things out. So we have been on a major time crunch to get everything taken care of! So that’s my crazy Florida weather story! I promise I am working on a few post for the upcoming weeks so stay patient because there are a ton of awesome things planed for my blog!

xoxo,

Jess
